The Platform team provides the foundation that empowers Fair’s engineers to build incredible things. We’re looking for dynamic software engineers who are passionate about and interested in infrastructure, network, systems, and security engineering. Whether you’re a seasoned infrastructure veteran or just deeply interested in enabling other engineers to do their best work, we’d love to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, build, and maintain the core infrastructure used by all of Fair’s engineering teams
  • Build a great customer experience for people using your infrastructure
  • Develop and promote conventions on production readiness and operational excellence
  • Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack
  • Plan for the growth of Fair’s infrastructure

What You’ll Have:

  • Think about systems and services (and their edge cases), and write high quality code. We work mostly in Go, with some Ruby and Python—but we care way more about general engineering skill than knowledge of a specific language or framework
  • Understand the importance of observability, and have good intuition about what to measure and how
  • Can debug complex problems across the whole stack
  • Know your way around a Unix shell
  • Thrive in collaborative environments and when taking an educator role
  • Hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production

Projects you could work on:

  • Request tracing! Make it easier for any engineer, when debugging, to trace a request from its source down to every service it touches
  • The tokenization service (and related systems) that protects all sensitive information at Fair
  • Kubernetes controllers to automatically expose select services between clusters
  • Improving our already automated CI/CD systems
  • Authorize and proxy gRPC requests from our public endpoints to the desired backend service
